Workers' Compensation Attorney Profile

Jessie Zaylía, Esq.

I earned my law degree from the University of San Diego School of Law in 2010. While I was in law school, I worked for two federal judges, interned with the Department of Justice, argued before the California Court of Appeal three times (and won!), and was the Chief Articles Editor for the San Diego Journal of Climate & Energy Law.

After graduating, I worked as a law clerk for California’s longest-standing workers’ compensation defense firm and then became a licensed attorney in 2011. Three short years later, I made partner at that firm, making me the fastest-rising partner in the firm’s history. I was fortunate to have a variety of experiences as a partner, including taking many trials, managing multiple accounts, managing the largest office in the firm, drafting policy manuals from scratch regarding client service, and overall enjoying the warmth of the attorneys and staff.

In 2017, I officially became a specialist in workers’ compensation, and in 2018, I flipped sides. I now exclusively represent injured workers. Over the years, I have presented on the topic of workers’ compensation to thousands of people, and I am determined to bring these topics to the masses via social media. It’s a personal goal of mine to inform injured workers in a non-jargon way about what’s going on in the State of California with workers’ compensation issues. No B.S.; just knowledge.

I’m focused on workers’ compensation law.

I practice exclusively in the area of workers’ compensation so that I can maintain a sharp focus within this complex field. I am passionate about this area of law because I am an injured worker, both having injured my back and having been robbed at gunpoint while waiting tables many years ago. Therefore, I know what my clients are going through as injured workers. Also, my background as a former partner at a defense firm means that I know what you’re up against. My goal is to help you navigate this system, to ensure that you are provided with the benefits that you deserve, and to assist you in getting the treatment that is going to help you live as full of a life as you possibly can.

What you should expect from me.

My clients can expect honesty and communication. The straightforward answer to clients’ questions isn’t always the prettiest, but I will not B.S. my clients. I’ll give it to you straight, and I will take the time to explain the law to you so that you understand what is going on at each step of the process.

I offer a free consultation. Also, you don’t have to worry about whether you can afford a lawyer; you will pay nothing out of pocket.
